high sugar level and diet

Can a "heavy" diet with a lot of fasting during the day (until the
evening) and a big weight reduction (6 pounds a week) cause a
significant raise in blood sugar?
My wife is experiencing such a situation.
Thanks for anybody.

Without knowing her diet or health status, it is hard to understand what is
going on.
Sound like she should be talking to her doctor, especially, with the big
weight reduction. Diabetes comes to mind.

Physiological impacts of diet

Re:high sugar level and diet

It's possible it goes in the other direction,ie. high blood glucose is
causing the weight loss. This is often a symptom of diabetes. For
someone with advanced metabolic syndrom, often preceeds diabetes, fasting
causes what is called a liver dump as a reaction to fasting. The glucose
stores stored in the liver are produced when a low blood glucose level
occurs. In relation to meals, when is she testing her blood glucose?
