Last meal of the day

2004-05-03 08:42:23 AM
I would like to know how long before bed should you have your last meal of
the day. It is advised not to eat after 8pm. However I work 3rd shift
(10pm-7am). Following the 8pm rule would leave me hungry and quite
irritable for all of my workday.
Thanks

Yes, it would leave you irritable no doubt. Maybe you should change your shift
and go to work in the morning so that you can eat your last meal at 8PM. Or you
could set your clock ahead 10 hours so that you can go to work at 8AM by the
clock, then by 8PM (by your clock) you could eat your last meal before bedtime.
But you would have to go to bed about two or three hours later which might upset
your schedule. It would involve a lot of fooling around trying to figure out
what to do.

I have a low-carb snack at about 9:00 or 9:30 and get to bed at around
11:00. It hasn't affected my sleep and I rarely wake up overly hungry.

How about eating your supper around 3 hours before going to bed?
It seems that a lot of people don't follow the 8pm advice. Probably, because
it is not that good of advice for a lot of people.

And if it's breakfast or lunch, so be it.

I think it does not matter. Have your last meal anytime you want, as
long as you can maintain your weight plan (either loosing or maintaining
or whatever you want).
During last 5 months, while on weight-loss plan, I have had my last
snack just before going to bed. No influence on weightloss or whatever.
So I recommend you to do what is fine with you. Do not care what is
advised, 90% of it is bullshit anyway :)
